Lowestoft & Yarmouth II v Beccles II - 24/19
L&Y 2s got their first run out of the season with a healthy squad of players and lots of new faces turning out.
This was a game that demonstrated the spirit and the desire of the players in just wanting to play a game of rugby as a few L&Y players swapped jerseys to wear a Beccles shirt to ensure a game could be played.
It was a big day for Tom Huggins, Franky Bolger, Tommy Bolger, Aaron Carver, Harry Read and Alfie Webber who were all making their senior debuts from progressing from Colt’s Rugby with L&Y.
Franky Bolger was running attacking lines all afternoon and cut the Beccles pack apart with his hard hitting carries. Alfie Webber bossed the backs at 8 with a commanding performance leading the backs well and kept the scrum all together. Harry Read caught some lovely high balls and ran it back to the Beccles line, turned rucks over and was exactly what you needed him to be. Aaron Carver played at 13. Some excellent rugby was played from this L&Y team of which was made up of youth and experience with also Christian Stent making a impression on his L&Y debut and the team went into half time with a deserved 14-7 lead.
Half time saw a change around of the L&Y players with giving Beccles a fresh look with Tom Huggins switching shirts. The final score was 24-19 with Tom Huggins getting MOM for both teams for his 2 half’s of rugby wearing two different shirts.
