The mighty L & Y Dragons hit the road with the team bus being on full song by the time they reached North Walsham making the car park attendants grin from ear to ear as they rolled up with their battle song pumping.
With a jam packed schedule the teams headed out to join forces with other teams chosen by organisers. The U18’s joined with North Walsham/Norwich/ West Norfolk/ Harwich and Dover, for a total of three matches with some great feedback received praising Sarah Watson for some great hard hitting rugby.
The under 15’s joined with West Norfolk and North Walsham also for a total of 5 games, Ace, Elyse, Anna, Chloe, Jess, Katie with our most recent player Alicia catching the eye of the E.C scouts (well done). The team had some excellent matches mixing well with new players and trying out their skill sets in different positions displaying some quality rugby with real team spirit shining through.
Last but not least our under 13’s joined with Ipswich Athena’s (a great friendly team of girls) who quickly mixed well winning against Crusaders 3-1. The next match was by no means an easy win for Norwich Wildcats with L & Y/Ipswich Athena’s stepping up defence and breaking down opportunities keeping Norwich Wildcats on the back foot bringing the final score to 2-1. All the team came off holding their heads high and proud with this close result.
The U13’s continued with a 4-1 win against Cambridge and a 3-2 loss against Shelford/ Whymondam.
The final match against a solid North Walsham team set off with both sides digging deep to find the power to play, although this was a great match agreed by all coaches North Walsham took the 2-0 win and received a firm congratulations from L & Y/ Ipswich Athena’s
