L&Y kick off the season with a win

The season started with excitement and confidence on Saturday 14th September against Swaffham with kick off at 3pm at Gunton Park, Old Lane, Corton.
From the off L&Y looked strong after plenty of preseason training, and within minutes Stuart Moore scored from a powerful break to start the season off well.
This followed by team mate Lewis Fox running wide then crashing through Swaffham defence to score another try.  This strong confident start really set the pace for the afternoon and despite the Swaffham number eight tackling well  and scoring close under the post L&Y were not going to be stopped.
Our park running prop Lewis Cook couldn't stop himself running away with the ball to get his first try out of two during the game, Joseph Brighty kicked the conversion for L&Y. Just before halftime Jack Walker and his fancy foot work saw him run past Swaffham defence to score for L&Y.
Second half saw Swaffham come right back into the game with their number 8 again starting where he left of in the first half.
After Kylan Saunders Try and Lewis Cook's second try, Lowestoft made a substitute and brought on Ethan Harrowvan just after he had finished a 100 kilometre bike ride. Ethan then went straight on and scored an impressive try. With Swaffham finishing strong L&Y managed to hold on to the win. A very close game played by both teams and some great L&Y teamwork. Lowestoft & Yarmouth man of the match went to no other than Stuart Moore on his come back to rugby.
Lowestoft 39/31 Swaffham. We're now looking ahead to next week for another win.
Please feel free to look online and come along and watch any of our home matches. With the rugby world cup only round the corner, then what better time to get involved with a great team sport. It's free to watch, there is plenty of parking and the club house will be open for refreshments during and after the match.
If you feel like taking part in rugby. Training is on a Tuesday and Thursday night at 7pm until 9pm. It's a great team sport for all age groups.
