What. A. Trip.
This spring, three of our senior Lowestoft & Yarmouth players had the opportunity of a lifetime — six weeks in Thailand with our partner club, Cobras Rugby, combining top-tier rugby with full-on cultural immersion. From match days to Muay Thai, temples to tuk-tuks, it was an experience they’ll never forget.
The Rugby
Let’s start with what took them there — the rugby. The lads got stuck into two high-energy tournaments:
Pattaya 10s
Phuket International 11s
Fast-paced, hard-hitting, and packed with talent from around the world — the perfect environment for our players to test themselves, grow their game, and represent L&Y on an international stage.
The Culture
When they weren’t lighting up the pitch, they were soaking up everything Thailand had to offer. Highlights included:
Exploring incredible temples — the Sanctuary of Truth being a real standout
Learning to cook authentic Thai dishes in a local class
Visiting a rescue elephant sanctuary
Watching live Muay Thai fights — and even jumping into training sessions (shoutout to Jack for stepping into the ring!)
The Adventures
The trip wasn’t all structure — there was plenty of time for wild adventure and making memories, including:
Hiking through national parks and up mountains
Exploring Phi Phi Islands, Coral Island, and Ko Ton by land and sea
Jet skiing across turquoise waters
Quad biking through the jungle
A day at the Grand Canyon Water Park
Visiting Tiger Kingdom and Chiang Mai Zoo
A scenic weekend trip to Pai
Bamboo rafting and adrenaline-fuelled white-water rafting
And yes… a fair few waterfalls were chased
Huge Thanks
Massive appreciation goes to Dave and JB for making it all happen — from organising the tournaments and travel to letting the lads stay at JB’s place for most of the trip. They sorted everything: flights, accommodation, the lot. Proper rugby family.
This tour was about more than just rugby. It was a chance to grow, explore, and bring back stories that’ll be told at the clubhouse for years to come. We’re proud of how the boys represented Lowestoft & Yarmouth — and we reckon they’re already counting down to the next one.
